I worked on copying some class objects and modifying behavior for them to allow the system to process different customers with different information. I am building the system based on exports from a database into a folder of CSV files. The user decides which files to select to import into their system and each record represents a different transaction the customer is either forecasting, requesting product shipments, shipments, and payments. The user of the system barely understands how it works and general coordination of my work is rather poor on their part, so I try to make up for it as best as I can.
I was able to get in about 6 hours on it today. That’s actually a lot of hours working directly on customer projects for a day. If you don’t run a business solo, you might have a hard time understanding how much time it takes to run a business. Paying the bills, sending out invoices, processing payments, tracking time, keeping consistent sales up, etc, etc. One wonders why one might do this sometimes. Lol. That’s what I’m doing right now. Might it be easier to have a full time job somewhere? I’d have a lot less to be concerned with, just pointed at a problem and working just on that. Getting paid a consistent amount of money each week. Actually having paid vacation and benefits paid for. There’s definitely perks to all that. The balance for me is the independence. I’m setting my own schedule and working when I want. I just have to make sure I’m balancing the ability to find and retain revenue streams along with everything else.
Well, enough ramblings. I’m ready to sign off for the evening 🙂
